BTCVM, LTCVM and DogecoinVM are now live in beta on Metal Blockchain, bringing BTC, LTC and DOGE to dedicated Layer 1 networks where payments reach finality in fractions of a second.

Each L1 is compatible with its corresponding native network and connected by a two-way bridge. Moving coins onto or off Metal still requires the original chain’s confirmations; once the asset is on its Metal L1, payments are final in about 0.15 to 0.25 seconds.

Three dedicated L1s

Final in fractions of a second

Live measurements from the three bridge sites show payments reaching finality on Metal in a fraction of a second:

  • Bitcoin → BTCVM: about 10 minutes for a new Bitcoin block; about 1 hour for six confirmations on large amounts; about 0.15 seconds to finality on BTCVM.

  • Litecoin → LTCVM: about 2.5 minutes for a new Litecoin block; about 30 minutes for 12 confirmations; about 0.25 seconds to finality on LTCVM.

  • Dogecoin → DogecoinVM: about 1 minute for a new Dogecoin block; about 20 minutes for 20 confirmations; about 0.2 seconds to finality on DogecoinVM.

Metal figures are live measurements from the bridge sites, timed from network acceptance to finality. Current sample sizes are 11 BTCVM payments, 1 LTCVM payment and 19 DogecoinVM payments, so the figures will move as usage grows.

These are finality measurements, not scheduled block times. Metal builds a block when a payment arrives rather than on a fixed clock. Once accepted, the block is final and does not rely on accumulating confirmations. For large-value native-chain settlement, that is thousands of times faster—and final rather than probably final.

Backed on the native networks

Coins deposited through each bridge are locked on the corresponding native network in a 2-of-3 multisig address. The matching amount, less applicable fees, becomes available on its Metal L1.

Each site shows the amount locked alongside the amount circulating, and the reserve address can be checked on a public block explorer. Users can move assets onto the Metal L1, transact with fast finality, and bridge back to the native network when ready.

What this opens up

Sub-second finality makes BTC, LTC and DOGE practical in places where waiting for native-chain settlement is not.

  • Paying at a till or inside an app without waiting minutes for the next block.

  • Tips and other small, frequent payments where speed and low cost matter.

  • Faster settlement between exchanges, wallets and other services.

  • The same wallet tooling as the original chains, including SegWit and Taproot support.

  • Self-custody, with private keys that stay on your own device.

  • New networks for Metal Blockchain validators to support.

These are payment-focused Bitcoin-family networks. They retain each coin’s native scripting model rather than adding a general-purpose smart-contract or DeFi platform.

How to get started

  1. Open metalbtc.com, metalltc.com or metaldoge.com.

  2. Create or import a wallet and securely back up the key.

  3. Deposit BTC, LTC or DOGE to the personal deposit address shown.

  4. After the required native-network confirmations, use the asset on its Metal L1.

  5. Withdraw to an address on the native network whenever needed.

Deliberately limited beta

The bridges are new and have not yet been externally audited. Use small amounts.

During the beta, deposits and total circulating supply are capped:

  • BTCVM: 0.01 BTC maximum per deposit; 0.1 BTC maximum circulating.

  • LTCVM: 1 LTC maximum per deposit; 10 LTC maximum circulating.

  • DogecoinVM: 100 DOGE maximum per deposit; 1,000 DOGE maximum circulating.

A bridge may be paused temporarily for maintenance. Deposits and withdrawals already sent are processed after it resumes.

What comes next

The next phase is designed to strengthen the operating model with independent bridge signers and broader validator participation. Beta limits can increase as those safeguards come online.

Explore BTCVM, LTCVM and DogecoinVM today—and start small.
